Matthews Brother Walcott Windows - Screen Removal and Replacement
Your Spencer Walcott double-hung windows are designed with removable screens, making seasonal cleaning quick and easy. Follow these simple steps to safely remove and reinstall your window screen.
Removing the Screen:
- Unlock the window and raise the bottom sash several inches to provide enough room to access the screen.
- From inside your home, place both hands on the screen frame near the top.
- Push the screen upward into the upper screen channel.
- While holding the screen up, gently pull the bottom of the screen toward you until it clears the window frame.
- Once the bottom is free, lower the screen out of the upper channel and remove it from the window opening.
Reinstalling the Screen:
- Hold the screen with the exterior-facing side toward the outside of the home.
- Insert the top of the screen into the upper screen channel.
- Push the screen upward until there is enough clearance to position the bottom of the screen into the lower channel.
- Lower the screen into place, making sure it sits securely in both channels.
- Check that the screen is fully seated around the entire frame before operating the window.
